I was born a long time ago in a small country called Belgium. A strange place, they have 3 official languages there, english not being one of them. I am Flemish, so my native tongue is dutch (as in the Netherlands).
I graduated as an electronics engineer in the days when computer programs were written on cards with holes punched in them and I started working on VAX computers running VMS. If you never heard of these, it just shows I am a bit older than you are.
At the end of the 1980s I moved to France and soon discovered their rules about sabbatical leave. So during the 1990s I undertook several long trips through Asia, from 6 to 11 months, and with Siberia always being part of the itinerary.
I’ve calmed down in the new millennium, I even married, and now I am quietly waiting for retirement, which somehow does not seem to get any closer.
But from time to time we manage to put in the odd trip, be it not for months on end anymore.
